Spanish Chimp & Gary Thomas
Versus
Mark Thomas & Robert Walker
Swindon GC Sunday 18/11/07
The Day it snowed!
It was possibly the worst weather for golf EVER!!
-1 centigrade ,sleet, & Bradda
Anyway 16 holes were played due to the spanish champ turning up late and we ran out of light.
After the first few holes it was apparrent it was going to be tight. all was square .
but then the champ kicked up a gear and produced a couple of flukey shots to take it to 2 up after 6 played.
Rob Walker kept us in it with a few halves to keep it down to just 2 on the turn.
Then team Faggat & Paye Upped the level a notch and won 4 out of the next 5 holes to swing the lead in their favour.
Team me me me me me me its all about me Bradda then shot a 4 iron to the green from about 150 yds( 4 iron , this is not a typo). to par the last but one hole. to make it interesting going down the last.
Gary Thomas Bladderred his drive across 3 fairways never to be seen again.
Rob Walker hit his so far we think it must have burnt up on leaving the earths atmosphere.
Bradda hit his straight down the middle ( about 150 yds ) Big girls blouse.
I hit a straight drive some 280 yds only to find the bunker.
Arseoles were twitching 50p / 5p 50p /5p.
2 iron shots were played to both short of the green.
2 chips were played to both short of the hole.
both had a 12 ft put.
both took 2 shots to halve the hole.
we won thank god i dont think i could take the ear bashing from bradda in the Bar.( only joking Champ)
a thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all despite the appalling weather. good company. great day. cheers Thommo and Bradda.

Nags V's St Mathews Matchplay event
It was the morning of the 26th October 2007 and the stage was set for a truely memorable days golf as the Nags Head Golf Society took on St Mathews on their turf ( Whittington Heath GC) All under the guise of Charity. It was advertised as a freindly, but Captain Daz (bandito ) Johnson was in no freindly mood, this was a win at all costs gentlemen, anyone losing their match would be exiled from the society never to darken the NHGS emblem again.
And so the game began with 4 NHGS members teeing off first, 2 for us 2 for ST Matts, unfortunately for us we had Mark Thomas(chasetowns mourhinio) and Johnny (pop another pill)Bould on our side and after the first tee it was all apparrant, we were in trouble.
This fourball were followed by many more of our comrades some good some bad, some indifferrent?.
Paul (crazylegs) Gould & Steve (russ abbotts lovechild) Mowby were also triumphant on the day winning on both the 15th and 16th , dont ask me i couldn't work it out either.
Myself and captain Jono took the piss and had it wrapped up by the 12th winning by a dog licence (7 & 6).
Andy Howells and Jess are still playing !!
More heroics were going on around the course as the score stood at 6 / 5 in St Matts favour. Up stepped Ratty and Rob Walker, 3 down with 4 to play the task seemed almost impossible. but they kept their heads and pulled off the win of the day. Taking it to the last putt, Rob dropped his in, and St Matts lipped out.
So it was all square with 2 matches to come in. We Knew Dill was struggling as he had to give Jock(Traitor)Wilson 18 shots. but we could rely on Clacka the bridesmaid to pull us through, afterall he is the most accomplished golfer on the society, practicing 14 hours a day to perfect his swing, got all the videos, all the trophies(2nd & 3rd place).we knew we could rely on our Clacka!!!!
Well unfortunately we lost!!!! i know its hard to believe but Clacka LOST!!.. Still no hard feelings. theres always next year..The event finished 8 / 6 in St Matts favour, presentations for 2's went to Dill & Jock, longest drive to Rob Walker, and a few other trophies to people who i cant remember. a great spread was put on by Rolf from St Mathews, which was followed by a disco for charity in the evening to which i couldn't attend.
I believe over £600 was raised and i know Dill, Jock,Rob and the other winners donated their prize money too which was very commendable. So all in all a fantastic day well organised by Jono and their captain. I can't wait for the rematch. it felt like the Ryder Cup to me and i enjoyed the company on the day, so thanks to you all who attended.
Apologies to all not mentioned, but this was done with haste and next time ill get the scores from Paul Bryan.
I hope to update this blog after the next NHGS day, with photos if possible, so feel free to post comments, and lets start a little forum.
cheers Mark (torch it!) Thomas.
